2012-04-27 Freaky Friday: The Doorbells of Perception

A special guest photo! The very charming and talented Sophie sent me a picture of classic cultural French irony.

Yes, a doorbell sign to say “Don’t ring the doorbell”.

My own contribution to Freaky Friday is another kind of door. This one comes from the 8th district and a thoroughly modern building designed in a style that one critic refers to as “between homage and parody“.

Rue Vernet 75008 Pari

Rue Vernet, 75008 Paris (Edouard François, architect)

It’s molded cement blocks mixed with a metal door into what could be called a postmodern belfry. Or not. Doesn’t matter, I’ve already lost interest.

I’d like to turn this site into more of a collaborative effort, if at all possible. For that, I need your help!

If, like Sophie, you have taken a picture of Paris on your cell phone and would like to show it off to the world, why not do it here? It doesn’t have to be super artistic–there are enough photo sites of Paris as it is–just taken with a mobile phone and that’s all!

Please send a copy of your photograph to Paris.Paul.Prescott@gmail.com and I’ll let you know when it’ll be posted.

Thanks so much for your help!
